DeSantis is a job-killing moron’: DeSantis immigration policy threatens state economy

Florida State Rep. Anna Eskamani talks with Alex Wagner about protests across the state of Florida against new immigration policies passed by Ron DeSantis and state Republicans that not only threaten the health and wellbeing of immigrants but hurt the local business community as important jobs and services that would ordinarily be staffed by immigrants go unfulfilled.

DeSantis Ignores The Crises Piling Up In Florida As He Campaigns For President

The state of Florida is currently suffering from environmental, economic, and health crises at the same time, and so far governor Ron DeSantis hasn’t said a single word about any of these problems. Not one statement for the press; Not a single mention on the campaign trail. Instead, the governor has abandoned the state as he tries desperately to keep his failing presidential campaign from going belly up

Ken Burns Compares DeSantis Bills to ‘Soviet System’ on CNN: ‘The Way the Nazis Would Build a Potemkin Village’

Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns joined CNN on Tuesday and accused Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) of creating a Soviet-like system through his bills targeting materials available in public schools. DeSantis has been focused on introducing legislation specifically aimed at explicit and “woke” materials in schools. His efforts have earned major pushback as critics argue new strict guidelines can be used to target LGBTQ and Black history-related content. House Bill 999 would give more power to a university board of trustees over curriculum being taught and essentially ban controversial curriculum like Critical Race Theory. DeSantis 2022 ad claiming he’s a ‘Fighter who was anointed By God’ shows what a Delusional, Self Aggrandizing, Radical Right Wing Religious Fanatic Ron DeSantis is. Former GOP operative Steve Schmidt was correct when he called the ad ‘Psychotic’ stating DeSantis ‘clearly has developed a God complex’. This ad really shows what DeSantis thinks of himself and what a danger to Democracy he is.

DeSantis is anything BUT a ‘Fighter who was anointed By God’. He’s fighting to advance his own political career by passing the most extreme, far right, anti-democratic, anti-freedom, fascist laws ever seen in the United States. Numerous videos and articles have pointed out how DeSantis fights for Corporate interest, NOT Average Joe Floridians.

DeSantis who claims he’s made Florida “one of the Freest States in American”, has taken away rights and made it one of the most oppressed.

3 Ways Christianity Was Largely Responsible For The Holocaust

While Christianity wasn’t the sole catalyst for the Holocaust, there is no doubt that Christianity set the stage for the Holocaust to happen.

Per the above article; “Christianity was culturally oppressive to the Jews – In the eyes of the Christian church, Jews were heretics and Jesus-killers. Since they rejected the teachings of salvation, they deserved to go to Hell. Hitler hijacked German Christians’ existing prejudice towards Jews.

Hitler merely played on the prejudices created by Christianity to blame the problems that were largely created by Christianity, on the Jews. Thus, Christianity played a central role in setting the stage for the Holocaust”.

Similar to Hitler who stated, “I am fighting for the work of the Lord”, Christian Nationalists (like DeSantis) use religion to justify their extreme conduct while believing God is on they’re side.

Ruth Ben-Ghiat, a professor of history and Italian studies at New York University who has written several books on propaganda, authoritarianism, and dictators such as Benito Mussolini, stated in an article; “Governor Ron DeSantis would “destroy our democracy” if he is elected president”.

An article by Vanityfair.com stated; ‘Ron DeSantis shouldn’t be covered like just another Republican. To call DeSantis a culture warrior dangerously understates what the man is capable of. He is the Genghis Khan of social issues, using every opportunity to target and demonize groups that have already been targeted and demonized throughout history. Marginalizing vulnerable groups is a classic authoritarian trope which DeSantis seems to have down pat’.

“He has relentlessly attacked the LGBTQ+ community, urged the Florida medical board to outlaw transgender therapy for minors, and passed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. When not targeting school boards and transgender athletes, he’s fighting with the College Board about AP African American studies or trying to turn the small progressive New College into “a Hillsdale of the South.” Trump may have sounded like an autocrat when running for president, but DeSantis has already acted like one before officially getting in the 2024 race”.

Title from YouTube: “Ron DeSantis’ Corruption Scandal EXPOSED”

DeSantis tries to make it seem he’s fighting for citizens when he’s actually fighting for corporations (like most Republicans) and to advance his own political career. Per the description from YouTube: “Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is at the center of a major corporate corruption scandal. DeSantis has signed off on $5.7 billion in tax write-offs and giveaways to corporation, while raising taxes on working people by $1 billion. In return, he’s banked about $30 million from Wall Street and other corporate donors.”

How Ron DeSantis Let Billionaires Destroy Florida

Florida Governor and U.S. presidential candidate Ron DeSantis has raked in millions of dollars—and even a golf simulator—from wealthy corporate interests. At the same time, he’s stripped protections from renters, let insurance & utility companies hike rates, and cut taxes on the wealthy.

Desantis was FOR Covid Vaccines before he decided to be AGAINST them.

Per an article posted on the on the New York Times; “The Steep Cost of Ron DeSantis’ Vaccine Turnabout”

“On a Saturday in September 2020, with COVID-19 killing more than 600 Americans daily and hundreds of thousands of deaths still to come, Dr. Deborah Birx, a member of the White House coronavirus task force, heard her cellphone ring. It was Dr. Scott Rivkees, the Florida surgeon general. He was distraught. “‘You won’t believe what happened,’” she said he told her. Months before COVID vaccines would become available, Gov. Ron DeSantis had decided that the worst was over for Florida, he said. DeSantis had begun listening to doctors who believed the virus’s threat was overstated, and he no longer supported preventive measures like limiting indoor dining.

DeSantis was going his own way on COVID.

Nearly three years later, the governor now presents his COVID strategy not only as his biggest accomplishment but also as the foundation for his presidential campaign. DeSantis argues that “Florida got it right” because he was willing to stand up for the rights of individuals despite pressure from health “bureaucrats.” On the campaign trail, he says liberal bastions like New York and California needlessly traded away freedoms while Florida preserved jobs, in-person schooling and quality of life.

But a close review by The New York Times of Florida’s pandemic response, including a new analysis of the data on deaths, hospitalizations and vaccination rates in the state, suggests that DeSantis’ account of his record leaves much out.

As he notes at most campaign stops, he moved quickly to get students back in the classroom, even as many of the nation’s school districts were still in remote learning. National research has suggested there was less learning loss in school districts with more in-person instruction.  [source: news.yahoo.com/steep-cost-ron-desantis-vaccine-142915131.html

FLORIDA INSURANCE RATES INCREASE 40% UNDER DESANTIS

Insurance providers leave Florida, homeowners have ‘no place to go

Florida homeowners pay more than three times the national average for home insurance, and residents fear that could increase as providers leave the state.

Another property insurer is dropping coverage in Florida. Farmers Insurance will stop writing new business and not renew its existing “Farmers-branded” automobile, home and umbrella policies in the Sunshine State, the company said Tuesday.

On Monday, Farmers sent notice of its plans to the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, which is reviewing it. Insurers must give the office 90 days’ notice if they want to discontinue writing business in Florida. “This business decision was necessary to effectively manage risk exposure,” the company said in a statement.

No One Is Talking About What Ron DeSantis Has Actually Done to Florida

“Under DeSantis’s watch, the Sunshine State has not exactly been a workers’ paradise,” writes William Kleinknecht.

Per the above article: “DeSantis weaponizes the cultural wars to distract attention from the core missions of his governorship, which is to starve programs geared toward bettering the lives of ordinary citizens so he can maintain low taxes on the wealthy and corporations. Florida is the ideal haven for privileged Americans who don’t want to pay their fair share of taxes. It has no income tax for individuals, and its corporate tax rate of 5.5% is among the lowest in the nation. An investigation by the Orlando Sentinel in late 2019 revealed the startling fact that 99% of Florida’s companies paid no corporate income tax, abetted by tax-avoidance schemes and state officials who gave a low priority to enforcing tax laws.

This is a pattern that shows up in the statistics of many Republican-led states, which on average commit fewer dollars per-capita to health care, public education, and other crucial services compared to their blue counterparts, while making sure corporations and wealthy individuals are prioritized for tax relief. Arizona cut taxes every year between 1990 and 2019, following up with a shift to a flat tax this year that will cost its budget $1.9 billion. Meanwhile, its public-school spending ranks 48 among the 50 states.

In Florida, the state’s tax revenues come largely through sales and excise taxes, which fall hardest on the poor and middle class. A 2018 study by the left-leaning Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy found that Florida had the third least-equitable tax system of the 50 states. In the state’s “upside-down” tax structure, the poorest 20% of Florida families paid 12.7% of their income in taxes, while the families whose income was in the top 4% paid 4.5%, and the top 1% paid 2.3%, according to the study.

Florida taxpayers get less for their money than residents of many other states. The Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation that studies health-care systems globally, found in its 2022 “scorecard” that Florida had the 16th worst health care among the 50 states. It’s no wonder that Florida ranks below the northern blue states in life expectancy and rates of cancer death, diabetes, fatal overdoses, teen birth rates, and infant mortality.

Largely because of DeSantis’s obstinacy, Florida is one of 10 states that have refused to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, an act of political spite that has cost those states billions in federal health care dollars and cost thousands of people their lives. More than 12% of Floridians are without medical insurance, a worse record than all but four other states. Despite having the country’s highest percentage of retirees, Florida has the worst long-term care among the 50 states, according to the American Association of Retired Persons.

Public schools fare no better than health care in DeSantis’s Florida. Not only did Florida rank 49th in the country for average teacher pay in 2020, but the Education Law Center, a non-profit advocacy group based in New Jersey, found in a 2021 report that the state had the seventh-lowest per-pupil funding in the country. Education Week, which ranks states public school annually, looking beyond mere test scores, placed Florida 23rd in its 2021 report, a lackluster showing for a large and wealthy state”.

TEACHERS QUITTING DUE TO DESANTIS OPPRESSIVE EDUCATION, HISTORY & BOOK LAWS

DeSantis and Florida Republicans are causing teacher to quit after passing Laws banning books, limiting what Teachers can Teach and what can be discussed in classrooms. Since the founding of this country, we didn’t have laws outlawing books and limiting what can be discussed in classrooms, because such laws are not needed. These laws violate every Republican Principal of “Limited Government”.

Florida Teachers Afraid, Confused As DeSantis Politicizes Curriculum

Outrageous’: Florida teacher rips DeSantis’ censorship, criminal threats

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is pushing a new law forcing teachers to remove books from classrooms that are not deemed “appropriate.” So-called “Woke Busters” are joining DeSantis’ effort and forcing libraries and schools to remove “offensive” books. Florida public school teacher Andrea Phillips joins MSNBC’s Ari Melber, calling the law “outrageous,” and adding students “don’t have books to read.”

Disney scraps plans for new Florida campus amid feud with Gov. DeSantis

Disney (DIS) is cancelling plans to relocate thousands of California-based employees to the state of Florida amid its ongoing feud with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

According to an internal memo obtained by Yahoo Finance, Josh D’Amaro, chairman at Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, told employees the company, which had been building a new campus in the Lake Nona region of Orlando, was now scrapping those plans.

“Given the considerable changes that have occurred since the announcement of this project, including new leadership and changing business conditions, we have decided not to move forward with construction of the campus,” D’Amaro wrote.

“This was not an easy decision to make, but I believe it is the right one,” he continued. “As a result, we will no longer be asking our employees to relocate. For those who have already moved, we will talk to you individually about your situation, including the possibility of moving you back.”

Florida-Disney battle could cost taxpayers more than $1 billion

“Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held a special session of the state legislature this week to finalize his assault on the Disney Corporation and the Reddy Creek Charter that they’ve been operating under for decades. While DeSantis and the Republican-controlled legislature dissolved the district last year (which has not yet gone into effect), they changed course this week and proposed new legislation that would put “control” of the district directly in DeSantis’ hands”.

Monique Worrell, the second Democratically-elected state prosecutor fired by Ron DeSantis in the past year, says that the governor was upset with her because she was taking on corruption in the police force and working on prosecuting corrupt cops. DeSantis has made protecting and elevating police officers a central theme of his administration, even though it has meant putting citizens at risk of abuse.

Radical Right Wing Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is destroying Democracy & behaving like a Anti-Democratic Fascist Authoritarian Wanna-be Dictator

Title from YouTube: “Ron DeSantis Gives Himself Even More Power To Rig Florida Elections”

Description from YouTube: “Florida’s authoritarian Republican governor Ron DeSantis has signed a bill into law giving him control over a new Election Police Force. But that’s just the beginning of what this sweeping new legislation will do, and the rest of the bill is actually even worse than the police force. Voter rolls will have to be “cleaned up” every single year, which is a code for purging voters. And common Get Out The Vote tactics will also now be illegal. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains how this bill will officially make Florida a permanent red state”.

The Right’s Embrace of Fascism and Authoritarianism

This videos gives insight into the oppressive laws Republicans has been passing in recent years and how Russia exemplifies many of the same anti-democratic ideals and values held by Republicans.

The United States will become as oppressive as Putin’s Russia unless Republicans are STOPPED by Voting them Out of Office.

Calmes: Russia’s crackdown on liberty sounds all too familiar to Americans

Red states like Texas, Missouri and Florida are waging their own culture war in parallel to Putin’s, targeting the rights of women and minorities.

Per the above article; “Russia’s crackdown on liberty sounds all too familiar to Americans We see the ravages of Russia’s war on Ukraine, where it’s as if the black-and-white scenes of carnage and fleeing refugees in World War II Europe — scenes consigned to history books, we thought — have been updated in horrific, real-time color. Vladimir Putin’s heinous war has united the Ukrainian people”.

“Then there’s the coverage of the figurative war here in America, a culture war waged by Republicans against women, minority groups, LGBTQ people, educators, public health officials and just about anyone not of a right-wing mindset. This needless conflict divides us, for Republicans’ political gain”.

“Such domestic battles are a luxury of peace and prosperity. I’m reminded of conservatives’ culture wars amid the good times at the turn of the century, before 9/11 made a mockery of the invented threats and brought Americans together against a real one”.

“Even as Ukrainians suffer bombings of hospitals, a maternity center, apartments and schools, our bloodless war proceeds on its several fronts: Against women’s constitutional right to abortion before a fetus’ viability. Against teachers’ rights to speak freely about race and gender. Against transgender youth and their parents. Against public health officials dealing with a once-a-century pandemic that’s killed nearly a million Americans”.

“On abortion rights, Republican-led states aren’t even waiting for the conservative U.S. Supreme Court to turn back the clock a half-century. They’re rushing either to ban abortions at 15 weeks’ gestation, significantly before a fetus is viable (the latest bill just went to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to sign), or to go further and copy Texas’ plainly unconstitutional law that ended nearly all abortions in that state, home to 7 million women of reproductive age”.

Florida Republicans Push State Into Full Blown Fascism

Description from Youtube: “Republican-controlled Florida legislature has passed a bill that would force college professors to be recorded in the state, and once a year they would be forced to undergo questioning about their personal political beliefs. Many students would also be subjected to the same kind of questioning. This is actual fascism in the United States, and the Republicans in Florida say that they are doing this to stomp out “cancel culture.”

Wanna-Be Dictator Florida Republican Fascist Authoritarian Governor Ron DeSantis wants to revive a World War II era program in the state of Florida that would allow him to create his own, personal military branch in the Sunshine State. He has asked the Republican-controlled legislature to give him money for the “Florida State Guard,” which was a program in the Second World War used to bolster the state’s National Guard numbers after they were deployed elsewhere.

DeSantis Wants His Own SECRET POLICE Paramilitary Force

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has proposed a plan to establish a Florida state guard, which would be a paramilitary volunteer group of Florida residents that DeSantis would select himself and control. Gov. Ron DeSantis Could Be Our Next Presidential Nightmare

In a recent straw poll, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis came out as Republicans’ first choice for the 2024 presidential election. But before you celebrate Republicans turning away from Trump, take a look at all the ways Ron DeSantis could be…so much worse!

Furious that Disney spoke out against Republicans ridiculous “Don’t say Gay” law, anti-democratic, fascist wanna-be dictator Ron Desantis plans to Punish Disney which will cost local residents (as detailed in the above video).

Description from Youtube: “During a special session of the state legislature on Wednesday, Florida Republicans voted to strip the Disney Corporation of their “self-governing” status that has been in place for over half a century. While Republicans are celebrating the move, the public is left unaware that they are about to pay for this”.

‘A Solution In Search Of A Problem’: DeSantis Goes After Disney’s Special Status

Fallout over Florida’s controversial new law that critics have called the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill continues. This is another example of how Republicans focus on divisive social issues instead of governing and actually doing things to improve people’s lives. Republicans ridiculous “Don’t say Gay” law which is ‘A Solution In Search Of A Problem’. This law doesn’t fix any existing problems… it’s more unnecessary Republican Fascist BIG GOVERNMENT legislation to enslave and regulate every aspect of people’s lives.

DeSantis unleashes vengeance on Disney. This is the stuff of Nixon’s enemies list | Editorial

In an act of pure vengeance, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis used his powers last week to expand the legislative special session and strip Walt Disney World of the special taxing district that independently governs it.

Per the above article: “In an act of pure vengeance, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Tuesday that he was using his powers to expand this week’s special session in a push to strip Walt Disney World of the special taxing district that independently governs it. It’s clear that the governor has been nursing a towering grudge against Disney ever since the company had the nerve to listen to its employees and — belatedly, but rightly — speak out against the “Don’t say gay” bill, withholding political campaign contributions in Florida. And it may be that the taxing district, which has been around since 1967 and encompasses two cities, is an outdated concept. The district functions much like a government, with the ability to issue tax-free bonds, provide police and fire service and, notably, build its own nuclear power plant”.

“This is the stuff of Richard Nixon and his enemies list. For those who may not remember, the country’s 37th president kept a list of enemies that was revealed during the Watergate scandal. Its purpose, according to Nixon’s assistant in a 1971 memo, was to plan “how we can use the available federal machinery to screw our political enemies.” And that’s what’s going on here”.

“He’s covering his tracks, though with the most transparent of excuses, by saying that he wants the Legislature to consider getting rid of all special taxing districts that were enacted before 1968 and haven’t been reestablished since. So far it looks like that would include just a handful of districts along with Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District. House Speaker Chris Sprowls defended the governor’s move, saying the House has long contemplated this action. That doesn’t pass the smell test. In the war between Disney and DeSantis, this isn’t a grenade, it’s a precision missile strike, and it’s aimed right at Central Florida”.

“Back in 1971, Nixon’s list had 20 names on it. Over the next few years, it grew to 576 names. We all know how that ended. Now we have DeSantis’ frightening misuse of power. It must stop here, and that starts with lawmakers stiffening their backbones. Today, it’s Disney. Tomorrow, who knows?”

The Right Wants Freedom For Themselves but Not For Others

“Ron DeSantis’ Wish To Be Supreme Dictator Of Florida About To Come True”

Florida governor Ron DeSantis has finally won, and the state legislature agreed this week to allow him to have absolute control over the state by giving him the authority to redraw Congressional districts. This power is reserved only for the state legislature, but after a lengthy battle with the authoritarian DeSantis, the legislature gave up and let him have his way.

This is an election rigging tactic similar to how Right-Wingers turned Hungary into a anti-democratic authoritarian fascist one-party-rule dictatorship where elections & the courts are rigged, all of the media is state controlled and Propaganda is seen everywhere.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) signed a bill that bans abortions performed after 15 weeks without exceptions for rape, incest or human trafficking. Passing laws of oppression and taking away people’s freedom is Republicans TOP Priority… NOT pursuing policies and programs which help people.

New Florida Teacher Training Aims To Indoctrinate Educators With Conservative Ideology

New Florida law allows public college students and faculty to be surveyed on political beliefs

A new law that will go into effect on July 1 in Florida will allow the state to survey students, faculty and staff at public universities on their political beliefs. Proponents say it will help ensure “intellectual diversity.” This is another example of radical anti-democratic fascist authoritarianism by Republicans

DeSantis Signs Bill Requiring Colleges To Survey Student, Faculty Beliefs

The government has NO BUSINESS monitoring or interfering with what is taught at Universities. This is the type of “BIG BROTHER” behavior you find in Anti-Democratic Fascist Authoritarian Dictatorships like Russia, China, North Korea and Banana Republics.

Ron DeSantis wants to form an election security police force

Anti-democratic Authoritarian Fascist Republican, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is proposing the creation of an election security force to monitor elections in the state, when there were only 2 confirmed cases of election fraud, both committed by Republicans in the Villages retirement community. DeSantis should move to Russia, China or North Korea. He’d fit right in with those Anti-democratic Authoritarian Fascist bastards.

Ron DeSantis’ Election Police Power Will Backfire On Republicans

Florida’s authoritarian governor Ron DeSantis will soon have his very own “election police force” that will report directly to him. The alleged reason this is needed in Florida is to stamp out voter fraud, but Republicans need to be careful what they wish for. Most of the voter fraud cases that have been found in the state were elderly Republicans, and when this becomes a public spectacle, Republicans will be the ones looking bad.

Florida Employees Threatened With Demotions If They Criticize Ron DeSantis

State employees in Florida have been sounding the alarm bells about the quasi-dictatorship that they are working for, with multiple individuals saying that they have been threatened with demotions if they criticize Republican governor Ron DeSantis’s COVID policies. They are living in fear, as one employee put it, and they feel like they have no one to turn to.

Similar to Florida Employees being threatened if they criticize Ron DeSantis, during the invasion of Ukraine, Russia passed a law which would put people in prison for up to 15 years for criticizing Putin and Russia’s policies. It’s easy to see that Republicans are headed in this direction and would not hesitate to be just as extreme if given the opportunity. Right-wingers around the world are all the same… it’s in the DNA to be authoritarians who want to control every aspect of people’s lives.

Florida Gov signs law requiring students, faculty be asked their political beliefs

The law goes into effect July 1.

Per the above article; Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed HB 233 Tuesday. The legislation will require public universities to survey students and staff annually about their beliefs to assess “viewpoint diversity” on campuses. The bill does not specifically say what will be done with survey results, but DeSantis suggested budget cuts could be imminent if universities and colleges are found to be “indoctrinating” students.

Under House Bill 233, surveys would be conducted annually on campuses to assess viewpoint diversity and intellectual freedom, and determine “the extent to which competing ideas and perspectives are presented,” and whether students and faculty “feel free to express beliefs and viewpoints on campus and in the classroom.”

The legislation, which goes into effect July 1 2021, also aims to ensure students are being shown ideas that they “may disagree with or find uncomfortable.”

The measure was among three education bills signed by DeSantis Tuesday. Other measures included an expansion of civics education for K-12 schools, including instruction about the perils of communist and totalitarian governments.

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried compared Gov. Ron DeSantis to Adolf Hitler during a recent interview. Fried, a Democrat who is running for governor in 2022, made the remarks during Friday’s edition of The Florida Roundup podcast. Co-host Melissa Ross, a reporter for Jacksonville public radio station WJCT, asked Fried about her past references comparing DeSantis to an “authoritarian dictator.”

“He is doing everything possible to take power away from local governments, taking away people’s abilities to protest, making it harder to vote, talking about, you know, banning books,” Fried said. “That’s what dictators do. Instead of listening and trying to govern with the people, he is trying to govern over the people, and, you know, that, I’m sorry, I’m a student of history, too. I saw the rise of Hitler.”

“This governor is doing it for the sole purposes of power and doing so to make fear and to instill that, to blame people for what is happening in their lives, blaming certain parts of our society and culture, and that’s exactly what Hitler did to the Jews back during World War II.”

Fried proclaimed that DeSantis was “not fit to serve” after the state allowed as many as 1 million at-home COVID-19 test kits to expire. DeSantis has said the demand wasn’t there at the time before the omicron surge in Florida led to long lines at testing sites throughout the state.

After a vast majority of Florida voters passed an amendment this past November giving former felons their right to vote back, Florida Republicans went into hyperdrive to prevent these men and women from getting their rights back. They’ve now instituted what amounts to a modern-day poll tax to prevent 1.4 million new voters from going to the polls.

Citizens overwhelming voted for Amendment 4 to restore the right of convicted felons the right to vote. Florida Republicans response was to thwart the “will of the people” by passing SB7066, a poll tax law that restricts Amendment 4, ignoring the will of over 5 million Floridians who voted for Amendment 4 and puts a price tag on the right to vote for hundreds of thousands of people.

Florida Republicans passing a law to thwart the will of the people is another example of how Republicans are Anti-democratic Fascist Banana Republic Authoritarians

DeSantis’ Press Secretary Mocks Mother Of Son Bullied By The Governor

A mother of one of the children on stage with Ron DeSantis this week – when DeSantis berated the children for wearing a mask – spoke out against the governor’s actions, and her son admitted that he felt “pressured” by the governor to remove the mask. Christina Pushaw, DeSantis’ press secretary, decided to mock the parent by posting a meme of her son removing his mask after DeSantis requested it

Republicans’ Emails Prove Florida Voting Law Was All About Suppressing Democratic Voters

Emails and text messages obtained by Politico by Republican lawmakers in Florida have provided proof that the state’s recent voter suppression bill – signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in an exclusive event aired on Fox News – was only about suppressing Democratic votes and NOT about rooting out fraud. This isn’t a surprise to anyone on the Left, but the emails could easily help lawsuits seeking to get the law thrown out.

Florida AG calls for criminal inquiry into Bloomberg’s $16M felon voter donation

The move comes just two weeks before Florida’s voter registration deadline.

Seems to me that if Michael Bloomberg wants to help convicted felons restore their right to vote there should be nothing wrong with it. Also seems the REAL reason Florida Republicans want to go after Michael Bloomberg for helping felons restore their right to vote is because it nullifies Republicans efforts to obstruct thousands of people from voting who aren’t likely to vote for THEM.

Former FL GOP chair says ‘right-wing crazies’ want to suppress black vote

Former Florida Republican Party Chair Jim Greer testified in a lawsuit filed against his former party that “whack-a-do, right-wing crazies” wanted to suppress the black vote through Voter ID and tactics like current state Gov. Rick Scott’s efforts to purge voter rolls.

Jim Greer, stated “I sat in on many meetings where it was discussed how to make sure what happened in 2008, when Obama brought out the college-aged voters, the minority voters, never happened again”.

91-Year-Old Decorated WWII Veteran Targeted By Florida Governor Rick Scott’s Voter Purge

Florida Republicans took voter suppression to brazen extremes. After the 2010 election, Republican Gov. Rick Scott instructed Secretary of State Ken Browning to compile a massive database of alleged “non-citizen” voters. This resulted in a 91-year-old World War II veteran who won a Bronze star being told by the state of Florida to prove he is a citizen or be removed from voter roll.

With the passage of an anti-protest law, Joy says, “DeSantis is actually governing like the former Alabama Governor … George Wallace made no secret of what he would do to protesters if they were lying in the street in front of his car.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis & Florida Republican passes a law that could create harshest punishments for protesters in the nation.

Florida Senate passes controversial ‘anti-riot’ bill pushed in wake of Black Lives Matter protests

The Florida Senate passed a controversial anti-riot bill that was pushed by GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests last summer.

Per the above article; “The Florida Senate on Thursday passed, largely along party lines, a controversial anti-riot bill that was pushed by GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests last summer.

The bill would increase criminal penalties for assaulting law enforcement officials while engaging in a “riot” and defacing monuments and other public property during riots. It would also penalize local governments that interfere with law enforcement efforts to contain riots and set up a citizen’s appeal process when cities and counties try to reduce police budgets in response to riots.

The final vote in the Senate was 23-17, with one Republican voting with Democrats in opposition. The bill passed the GOP-controlled House in late March. Democratic legislators argue that it would create a chilling effect on First Amendment rights and restrict political dissent”.

“This legislation strikes the appropriate balance of safeguarding every Floridian’s constitutional right to peacefully assemble, while ensuring that those who hide behind peaceful protest to cause violence in our communities will be punished,” DeSantis said in a statement”.

DeSantis statement; “This legislation strikes the appropriate balance of safeguarding every Floridian’s constitutional right to peacefully assemble” is total BS. The criminal penalties in the bill PROVES his statement is BS.

Trump Loving Florida Governor Makes It LEGAL To Kill Protestors

Under a proposed piece of legislation from Ron DeSantis, the Trump-loving governor of Florida, it would be legal for citizens to run over protestors without any fear of prosecution, as long as the protestor was in the street. This is a direct attack on the First Amendment of the United States, and DeSantis is merely trying to give voters the impression that things are out of control in the state. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains why DeSantis is doing this.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law the Stop Social Media Censorship Act, SB 7072, that would make it illegal to ban public officials from social media sites. The law was almost immediately stricken down by a Federal Judge who stated parts of the legislation violate federal law.

“This is so obviously unconstitutional, you wouldn’t even put it on an exam,” said A. Michael Froomkin, a law professor at the University of Miami. Under well established Supreme Court precedent, the First Amendment prohibits private entities from being forced to publish or broadcast someone else’s speech. Prohibiting “deplatforming” of political candidates would likely be construed as an unconstitutional must-carry provision. “This law looks like a political freebie,” Froomkin said. “You get to pander, and nothing bad happens, because there’s no chance this will survive in court.”

“The Constitution isn’t the only problem for the new law. It also conflicts with Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, a federal law that generally holds online platforms immune from liability over their content moderation decisions. Section 230 has become an object of resentment on both sides of the political aisle, but for different reasons. Liberals tend to think the law lets online platforms get away with leaving too much harmful material up. Conservative critics, on the other hand, argue that it lets them get away with taking too much stuff down—and, worse, that it allows them to censor conservatives under the guise of content moderation”.
