Lying Republicans and Right Wing Media tried trying blaming President Biden and Democrats for the Baby Formula Shortage Republicans helped cause for political gain.

Nearly 200 Republicans vote against bill to ease baby formula shortage

The House passed the Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act in an effort to address baby formula shortages in the U.S. 192 Republicans voted against it.

The formula shortage, caused by a manufacturing recall, has gravely affected families nationwide, yet House Republicans voted against:

  • $28 million in emergency funding for the FDA to address and help prevent the formula shortage from happening again.
  • Providing the FDA resources so it can quickly and adequately inspect plants as it approves additional applications to sell formula in the US.
  • Boosting formula supply by allowing imports from FDA-approved facilities in Europe and Mexico
  • Providing the FDA resources so it can prevent fraudulent products from entering the marketplace.

This bill, combined with the recent House-passed Access to Baby Formula Act and the Biden administration’s recent authorization of the DPA, will help address supply chain challenges, safely boost formula production, and prevent something like this from happening again.

DCCC spokesperson Chris Taylor: “If Republicans had it their way the formula shortage would continue so they could cynically exploit recalls for political gain and racial divide. Democrats worked to deliver solutions, but when given the opportunity to solve problems Republicans abandoned the American people.”

Formula Shortage Predicted To Last At Least For The Rest Of The Year

The CEO of formula maker Perrigo reports to Reuters that he predicts the baby formula shortage could last the rest of the year. As parents become desperate, pediatricians warn against watering down the formula as it can be unsafe for babies. President Biden vowed to increase the availability of formula to low-income families and import formula from abroad.
