Republican’s Climate Change Denial & Policies are Destroying the Environment

Despite overwhelming scientific evidence, Republican politicians continue to deny that climate change exists, while others question the severity of its impact. But public opinion is shifting, and today even oil and gas companies publicly admit that climate change demands action. So why does climate denialism continue to influence U.S. politics? Here’s a look into who is funding the movement, and why denial is mainly a U.S. problem.

For the first time ever, global temperatures are expected to breach a level that is 1.5-degrees celsius higher than pre-industrial times within the next five years. That’s according to a new report by the World Meteorological Organization. It’s a threshold scientists have been warning about for years. This is a temperature rise we’ve all been warned to avoid at all costs – it is essentially the doomsday threshold for global warming. When you think of climate change or global warming, you might think about those searing hot summer days when the temperature exceeds 100-degrees Fahrenheit.

GOP candidates have rendered climate invisible from the 2024 race

Republicans have succeeded in rendering completely invisible in the number one political contest in the country,” says Chris Hayes on GOP contenders ignoring the climate issue.

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns, mainly caused by human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels.

New data shows that climate change is using this natural phenomenon to strengthen itself.

Republicans Deny Global Warming & Climate Change because Fossil Fuel Lobbyists gives Republican politicians millions to do nothing and bock legislation

Hurricane Ida will go down in history as one of the most impactful hurricanes to ever hit America. And it is a prime example of a natural event made more dangerous by the climate crisis. These weather events are not new — we’ve had flooding and hurricanes since the world began. But it’s the increasing strength and the frequency of these events that are concerning. Human-made climate change is exacerbating extreme weather. It’s time to admit the cold, hard truth: that our seedy love affair with fossil fuels and the oil industry will be the death of all of us. Or the death of our planet, which is the same thing. The science is clear that the burning of oil, gas and coal is quite literally setting the earth on fire. We all use oil. We need it to drive cars, travel on airplanes, produce heat and so much more. That’s what makes this a difficult discussion to have. But there is not a world in which we mitigate the effects of the climate crisis without fundamentally changing our relationship to fossil fuels.

Trump was the worst President for the environment in history. He has unraveled protections that were designed to save thousands of lives and billions of dollars. He perpetrated the largest attack on climate action in history.

Trump’s Republican Environmental Protection Agency is being run, at the highest level, by people the agency used to protect the environment from

Trump and most of his cabinet appointees do not believe the opinions of many scientists that climate change will have catastrophic impacts nor that carbon dioxide is a primary contributor to climate change. Trump pulled the United States out of the Paris climate accord, leaving the U.S. the only nation that is not part of the agreement. He avoided environmental discussions at both the 44th G7 summit held in Canada and the 45th G7 summit held in France by departing early from these conferences. In September 2019, the Trump administration replaced the Obama-era Clean Power Plan with the Affordable Clean Energy rule, which does not cap emissions. In April 2020, Trump issued his new vehicle emissions standards, which are projected to result in an additional billion tons of carbon dioxide, increasing annual U.S. emissions by about one-fifth.

The administration rewrote the EPA’s pollution-control policies—including on chemicals known to be serious health risks—particularly benefiting the chemicals industry, and repealed the Clean Water Rule in September 2019. A 2018 analysis reported that the Trump administration’s rollbacks and proposed reversals of environmental rules would likely “cost the lives of over 80,000 US residents per decade and lead to respiratory problems for many more than 1 million people.”

Republican Dominated “Conservative” Supreme Court Could Gut EPA’s Ability To Regulate Air Pollution

The conservative-controlled Supreme Court heard arguments this week about the EPA’s ability to regulate air pollution beyond the confines of the point of emission. While the Court didn’t immediately signal which way they were headed, enough of the conservative majority expressed concerns about giving the agency such broad authority. The climate cannot wait, and neither can human health, but the Court may deliver a devastating setback that we can’t afford.

Republicans deny Deny Global Warming & Climate Change because fossil fuel & industries which cause pollution gives Republican politicians millions in political contributions. This is yet another example of how Republican politicians are bought and paid for by special interests, how they don’t represent or care about their constituents and how they put greed and personal enrichment above doing what’s best for their citizens, their country and their planet.

Scientists even more confident climate change is real

The latest UN report lays to rest the lingering doubts about climate change. So why are the global warming deniers still at it? What’s in it for them to keep denying what’s obvious to the scientists?
