Radical Right Wing Judge Kacsmaryk BANS Abortion Pill

Anti-Science, Radical Right Wing Republican Partisan Ideologue Judge, Matthew Kacsmaryk appointed by Trump, BANNED the Abortion Pill because he’s PERSONALLY against abortions. Since his appointment in 2017, Kacsmaryk has described transgender people as having a “mental disorder,” and claimed that gay people are “disordered.”  Chuck Schumer, the then minority leader, called “narrow-minded” and “bigoted”. “Mr Kacsmaryk has demonstrated a hostility to the LGBTQ community bordering on paranoia,” Schumer said.

Matthew Kacsmaryk has proved he’s unfit to be a Judge and should be REMOVED.

Radical Right Wing Extremist Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk appointed by Republican Trump, banned the Abortion Pill, mifepristone. He stated in his Senate confirmation that it’s Inappropriate for Religion to Influence Decisions. His banning the Abortion Pill lends credence that he LIED to get his Lifetime position.

“First Liberty, where Kacsmaryk worked from 2014 to 2019 before joining the bench, has become one of the most influential groups for pushing for religious beliefs and institutions to exercise greater influence over public policy. First Liberty calls itself “the largest legal organization in the nation dedicated exclusively to defending religious liberty for all Americans.” Some of its most famous cases include that of Melissa and Aaron Klein, who, citing their religious beliefs, refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple, and that of the Bladensburg Peace Cross, a World War I memorial in Maryland, the public maintenance of which was challenged as unconstitutional because it “excessively entangled the government in religion.”

His fervent opposition to abortion arose as an issue during his confirmation hearings in 2019, as did his staunch opposition to same-sex marriage and his previous statement that transgender Americans were “delusional.” He isn’t a fan of birth control either: in 2015, as deputy general counsel for a Plano-based nonprofit law firm called First Liberty Institute, Kacsmaryk argued in an amicus brief that pharmacies should be prevented from providing contraception. Kacsmaryk’s time on the bench has only reinforced the view that he is an activist judge who allows his private beliefs to govern his legal opinions—and it seems that the antiabortion activists who venue-shopped to land the mifepristone suit in his courtroom would agree”.  [source: texasmonthly.com/news-politics/first-liberty-abortion-pill-lawsuit]

Judge Kacsmaryk uses language of Anti-Abortion Movement in Ruling

This is a CLASSIC example of why Right Wing Republicans are UNFIT to hold office and be in any position of power. All too often, they are influenced by Ignorant, Dark Ages, Anti-science Religious Beliefs. They are misguided, delusional and intent on cramming their regressive values down American’s throats.

The fact one Radical Right Wing Partisan Ideologue Judge, who has no medical expertise, has the legal authority to invalidate a drug approved by the FDA and used successfully for over 20 years, is another example of how the United States Government and Court System SUCKS. The American majority is FED UP with this type of unfair, ridiculous, anti-democratic BULLSHIT.

Mifepristone opinion out of TX ‘has zero basis in law and fact’

A ruling out of a federal court in Texas on Friday revoked the FDA’s 23-year old approval of abortion drug mifepristone, marking the biggest rollback of abortion rights nationwide since the fall of Roe v. Wade nearly a year ago. Less than an hour after that ruling came down, a federal judge in Washington state issued an opposing order, ruling that the FDA must keep its approval of the drug intact. The dueling orders have sparked a legal standoff that is now likely headed to the Supreme Court. Nancy Northup, president and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights, joins Ali Velshi to discuss what the immediate impact is of the competing orders.

A Trump-appointed Texas federal judge, Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, just halted FDA approval of abortion pill mifepristone. Then, almost instantaneously, a federal judge in Washington state said in a dueling ruling that the FDA must keep medication abortion drugs available.

‘Flabbergasted’: Doctor reacts to judge’s controversial ruling

Emergency physician Dr. Megan Ranney discusses a ruling by federal Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk that said the FDA’s approval of mifepristone, a drug used to terminate a pregnancy, should be halted. The court later paused that ruling so the federal government can appeal.

Texas judge tries to keep key abortion pill hearing quiet

The first hearing in a Texas case that could upend abortion pill access across the country has been scheduled for this Wednesday. But in a highly unusual move, Trump-appointed Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk tried to delay notifying the public about it, according to New York Times reporting.

Why AOC believes Biden admin should ‘ignore’ Texas judge’s abortion pill ruling

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) explains to CNN’s Anderson Cooper why she believes the Biden administration should “ignore” a ruling from a federal judge in Texas that halted the approval of abortion pill mifepristone

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is 100% correct… the Biden admin SHOULD ‘ignore’ this Radical Right Wing Activist Judge’s contrived ruling.

Senators, Representatives and Civil Rights Leaders: Kacsmaryk Is Unfit for Lifetime Appointment as Federal Judge – The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Shin Inouye,[email protected] , 202.869.0398 WASHINGTON – Today, members of Congress and civil rights leaders held a telephone press briefing in opposition to President Trump’s nomination of Matthew Kacsmaryk to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Per the above article: Members of Congress and civil rights leaders held a telephone press briefing in opposition to President Trump’s nomination of Matthew Kacsmaryk to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The Senate is expected to vote on cloture today on Kacsmaryk’s nomination as a lifetime judge. The call included representatives from some of the 75 LGBTQ and allied groups that sent a letter this week to the Senate urging opposition to Kacsmaryk

Marge Baker, Executive Vice President of People for the American Way: “Matthew Kacsmaryk is a right-wing extremist whose public statements drip with contempt for women and LGBTQ+ people—especially transgender people. His appointment to a lifetime seat on the federal bench would make it impossible for anyone to expect a fair hearing in his courtroom.”

Kristine Lucius, Executive Vice President for Policy and Government Affairs, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights: “Matthew Kacsmaryk is a right-wing extremist who is anti-LGBTQ, anti-women, and anti-health care. He is anti-justice for all,” said “That Senate Republicans chose to bring such staunch anti-LGBTQ advocate up for a vote during Pride month shows their shame knows no bounds. This may be the Senate Majority’s agenda, but it is appalling and wrong. Senators must have higher standards and we urge all of them to vote no on the Kacsmaryk nomination.”

Daniel Goldberg, Legal Director, Alliance for Justice: “Matthew Kacsmaryk has devoted his career to fighting equal rights for millions of his fellow Americans. He is one of dozens of Trump judicial nominees who oppose rights for women and LGBTQ Americans, and he has couched his opposition in demeaning and offensive language that betrays his intense hostility. It is clear that women and LGBTQ Americans would not receive equal justice in his courtroom, and he has no place on the federal bench.”

Anisha Singh, Director of Judicial Nominations, Planned Parenthood Federation of America: “President Trump’s nominee to the Northern District of Texas Matthew Kacsmaryk has extreme views against reproductive health and rights as well as LGBTQ rights. The role of a federal judge is to be impartial and follow legal precedents, such as well-established precedents affirming the right to safe, legal abortion. Kacsmaryk’s record, which includes disputing the legitimacy of Roe v. Wade, leaves little doubt that he will rule fairly on the issues that would come before him as a federal judge. This nomination is particularly alarming given the state of reproductive health in Texas, where politicians have been relentless in their efforts to restrict access to abortion and block patients from accessing care at Planned Parenthood health centers. Planned Parenthood strongly urges Senators to oppose his nomination.”

Sarah McBride, HRC National Press Secretary: “Matthew Kacsmaryk is among the most anti-LGBTQ judicial nominees put forward by the Trump-Pence administration. He has been vociferous in his opposition to same-sex marriage, legal protections for gender identity and sexual orientation, and the basic humanity of transgender people. To be qualified for the bench, every nominee must demonstrate a commitment to equality under the law. Kacsmaryk fails a basic expectation of impartiality. The Human Rights Campaign will continue to raise the alarm about Kacsmaryk and other nominees who refuse to protect the rights of all Americans.”

Trump pick slammed as ‘anti-LGBTQ activist’ gets lifetime judicial appointment

The Senate voted Wednesday to confirm Matthew Kacsmaryk to the position of U.S. district judge for the Northern District of Texas, a lifetime appointment. His appointment riled Democrats and LGBTQ advocates who have opposed his nomination for almost two years.

Per the above article: Trump pick slammed as ‘anti-LGBTQ activist’ gets lifetime judicial appointment

Kacsmaryk is the latest in a series of judicial nominations to elicit alarm from LGBTQ and civil rights advocates over what they consider anti-LGBTQ track records. A 2017 report from Lambda Legal found that, of President Donald Trump’s nominees, “nearly one-in-three have records that demonstrate hostility towards the rights of LGBT people.”

Among advocates, concerns about Kacsmaryk are his opposition to LGBTQ anti-discrimination protections and same-sex marriage, along with his remarks concerning transgender children and adults. Kacsmaryk worked at the First Liberty Institute under Jeff Mateer, previously considered for a federal judgeship himself. Mateer withdrew from consideration after significant opposition to his nomination emerged. Specifically, LGBTQ and civil rights advocates cited Mateer’s anti-LGBTQ record, which included referring to transgender children as evidence of “Satan’s plan.”

An unhinged case brought by anti-vaxxers will be heard by Trump’s worst judge

The plaintiffs in Children’s Health Defense v. Washington Post are an array of Covid conspiracy theorists, anti-vaxxers, and disgraced media figures who preach the gospel of ivermectin. They target four of the world’s leading media institutions – the Washington Post, the BBC, the Associated Press, and Reuters – claiming that these institutions violated federal antitrust law by conspiring with major tech companies to suppress many of the plaintiffs’ business.

Per the above article: “Kacsmaryk is a longtime anti-sex crusader and former attorney for a Christian right law firm in Texas. Since then-President Donald Trump appointed him to the federal bench, however, Kacsmaryk has become one of the most powerful allies of reactionary causes in the United States. Kacsmaryk’s record on the bench indicates he is willing to use his public office to advance reactionary causes, regardless of what the law actually says”.

Ultra-Conservative Texas Judge Halts FDA Approval of Abortion Pill

Abortion access in the U.S. was dealt a major blow Fridayas a far-right federal judge in Texas halted the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of mifepristone, potentially laying the groundwork to bar access nationwide to an abortion pill that’s used by hundreds of thousands annually.

Per the above article: “Trump-appointed Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, who’s notorious for his views far outside mainstream opinion, issued the ruling at the behest of anti-abortion groups”.

“Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, an appointee of former President Donald Trump who’s become notorious for spewing ultra-conservative views far outside mainstream opinion, ruled to suspend the drug’s approval after anti-abortion groups had petitioned him to do so. It’s not surprising Kacsmaryk was singled out by anti-abortion activists to push the ruling through. Since his appointment in 2017, Kacsmaryk has described transgender people as having a “mental disorder,” and claimed that gay people are “disordered.”

The timing of the decision isn’t a coincidence either. It comes on the heels of the FDA giving pharmacies the all-clear in January to issue mifepristone even without a doctor’s visit.

Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center, denounced the decision Friday, saying in a statement: “We deserve more than an anti-abortion minority manipulating our legal system to defy the law, logic, science, and public support. We are still distilling this unprecedented decision and don’t know yet the length or depth of its impact. But what’s clear is that this sort of weaponization of the judiciary is a threat to our democracy and we must work to restore justice in every way possible.”

“It’s hard to overstate the impact of today’s callous decision to ban one of the most important and common methods of abortion care. This medicine has gone through the toughest safety reviews and has been used safely and effectively for over 20 years. We need expanded access to abortion care, not court rulings based in junk science,” said Dr. Daniel Grossman, the director of the research group Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health”.
