Republicans Block Campaign Finance Reform

Capitol Hill gyrocopter pilot protesting campaign finance

Florida postal worker Doug Hughes flew a one-man helicopter on to the lawn of the Capitol to protest the influx of millions of dollars in dark, secret money into U.S. elections.

His message was lost with the mainstream media. They focused on security issues rather than Mr. Hughes message about Campaign Finance Reform.

The Republican dominated Supreme Court gave Millionaires and Billionaires the power to buy elections through the “Citizens United” decision. This is why democrats want to pass legislation to correct this problem.

Since the Republican party is the party of the rich and they get billions of dollars in donations from billionaires, Republican do not want Campaign Finance Reform.

As a cover story, they claim that Campaign Finance Reform violates “free speech”. They are OK with billionaires being able to buy elections since it benefits Republicans.

The fact is, billionaires buying elections is destroying democracy.
