Florida Republican Governor DeSantis signs Anti-Democratic Voter Suppression Law… Behaves like Authoritarian Fascist Dictator by shutting out reporters from Election Bill signing

This Floridian is NOT COOL with the GOP’s voter restrictions

“What bothers me about these lies is not only does it make people question how our systems work, but it makes people not want to work in the system.”

Florida Republicans Create A Poll Tax To Keep People From Voting

After a vast majority of Florida voters passed an amendment this past November giving former felons their right to vote back, Florida Republicans went into hyperdrive to prevent these men and women from getting their rights back. They’ve now instituted what amounts to a modern-day poll tax to prevent 1.4 million new voters from going to the polls.

Citizens overwhelming voted for Amendment 4 to restore the right of convicted felons the right to vote. Florida Republicans response was to thwart the “will of the people” by passing SB7066, a poll tax law that restricts Amendment 4, ignoring the will of over 5 million Floridians who voted for Amendment 4 and puts a price tag on the right to vote for hundreds of thousands of people.

Florida Republicans passing a law to thwart the will of the people is another example of how Republicans are Anti-democratic Fascist Banana Republic Authoritarians

DeSantis’ Press Secretary Mocks Mother Of Son Bullied By The Governor

A mother of one of the children on stage with Ron DeSantis this week – when DeSantis berated the children for wearing a mask – spoke out against the governor’s actions, and her son admitted that he felt “pressured” by the governor to remove the mask. Christina Pushaw, DeSantis’ press secretary, decided to mock the parent by posting a meme of her son removing his mask after DeSantis requested it

Republicans’ Emails Prove Florida Voting Law Was All About Suppressing Democratic Voters

Emails and text messages obtained by Politico by Republican lawmakers in Florida have provided proof that the state’s recent voter suppression bill – signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in an exclusive event aired on Fox News – was only about suppressing Democratic votes and NOT about rooting out fraud. This isn’t a surprise to anyone on the Left, but the emails could easily help lawsuits seeking to get the law thrown out.

‘Moral Imperative’: John Legend On Fight To Stop Modern-Day Poll Tax In Florida

John Legend on push to restore voting rights in Florida: “We’re going to literally pay off some of these fees and fines and free the vote for thousands more people. We believe this is a moral imperative to include as many people as possible in our democracy.” Aired on 09/23/2020.

Civil Rights Groups Sue Florida After DeSantis Signs ‘Voter Suppression Bill’ Into Law

Florida-based civil rights groups sued state and local election officials Thursday to block new restrictive voting measures immediately after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed them into law, arguing the new requirements will disenfranchise voters including voters of color, seniors and younger voters.

Seems to me that if Michael Bloomberg wants to help convicted felons restore their right to vote there should be nothing wrong with it. Also seems the REAL reason Florida Republicans want to go after Michael Bloomberg for helping felons restore their right to vote is because it nullifies Republicans efforts to obstruct thousands of people from voting who aren’t likely to vote for THEM.

Republicans don’t believe in Democracy… to them, is about winning and maintaining power at all costs. This is why Putin helped Trump and Republicans get elected in 2016… because Republicans Anti-Democratic Fascist Authoritarian policies and tactics aligns well with Ruthless, Murderous Dictators like Putin.

Former FL GOP chair says ‘right-wing crazies’ want to suppress black vote

Former Florida Republican Party Chair Jim Greer testified in a lawsuit filed against his former party that “whack-a-do, right-wing crazies” wanted to suppress the black vote through Voter ID and tactics like current state Gov. Rick Scott’s efforts to purge voter rolls.

Jim Greer, stated “I sat in on many meetings where it was discussed how to make sure what happened in 2008, when Obama brought out the college-aged voters, the minority voters, never happened again”.

91-Year-Old Decorated WWII Veteran Targeted By Florida Governor Rick Scott’s Voter Purge

Florida Republicans took voter suppression to brazen extremes. After the 2010 election, Republican Gov. Rick Scott instructed Secretary of State Ken Browning to compile a massive database of alleged “non-citizen” voters. This resulted in a 91-year-old World War II veteran who won a Bronze star being told by the state of Florida to prove he is a citizen or be removed from voter roll.

Florida Republicans Criminalize Protesting

With the passage of an anti-protest law, Joy says, “DeSantis is actually governing like the former Alabama Governor … George Wallace made no secret of what he would do to protesters if they were lying in the street in front of his car.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis & Florida Republican passes a law that could create harshest punishments for protesters in the nation.

Florida passes law to Criminalize Protesting

Florida Senate passes controversial ‘anti-riot’ bill pushed in wake of Black Lives Matter protests

The Florida Senate passed a controversial anti-riot bill that was pushed by GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests last summer.

Per the above article; “The Florida Senate on Thursday passed, largely along party lines, a controversial anti-riot bill that was pushed by GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests last summer.

The bill would increase criminal penalties for assaulting law enforcement officials while engaging in a “riot” and defacing monuments and other public property during riots. It would also penalize local governments that interfere with law enforcement efforts to contain riots and set up a citizen’s appeal process when cities and counties try to reduce police budgets in response to riots.

The final vote in the Senate was 23-17, with one Republican voting with Democrats in opposition. The bill passed the GOP-controlled House in late March. Democratic legislators argue that it would create a chilling effect on First Amendment rights and restrict political dissent”.

“This legislation strikes the appropriate balance of safeguarding every Floridian’s constitutional right to peacefully assemble, while ensuring that those who hide behind peaceful protest to cause violence in our communities will be punished,” DeSantis said in a statement”.

DeSantis statement; “This legislation strikes the appropriate balance of safeguarding every Floridian’s constitutional right to peacefully assemble” is total BS. The criminal penalties in the bill PROVES his statement is BS.

Trump Loving Florida Governor Makes It LEGAL To Kill Protestors

Under a proposed piece of legislation from Ron DeSantis, the Trump-loving governor of Florida, it would be legal for citizens to run over protestors without any fear of prosecution, as long as the protestor was in the street. This is a direct attack on the First Amendment of the United States, and DeSantis is merely trying to give voters the impression that things are out of control in the state. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains why DeSantis is doing this.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law the Stop Social Media Censorship Act, SB 7072, that would make it illegal to ban public officials from social media sites. The law was almost immediately stricken down by a Federal Judge who stated parts of the legislation violate federal law.

“This is so obviously unconstitutional, you wouldn’t even put it on an exam,” said A. Michael Froomkin, a law professor at the University of Miami. Under well established Supreme Court precedent, the First Amendment prohibits private entities from being forced to publish or broadcast someone else’s speech. Prohibiting “deplatforming” of political candidates would likely be construed as an unconstitutional must-carry provision. “This law looks like a political freebie,” Froomkin said. “You get to pander, and nothing bad happens, because there’s no chance this will survive in court.”

“The Constitution isn’t the only problem for the new law. It also conflicts with Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, a federal law that generally holds online platforms immune from liability over their content moderation decisions. Section 230 has become an object of resentment on both sides of the political aisle, but for different reasons. Liberals tend to think the law lets online platforms get away with leaving too much harmful material up. Conservative critics, on the other hand, argue that it lets them get away with taking too much stuff down—and, worse, that it allows them to censor conservatives under the guise of content moderation”. THE FACT THAT RON DESANTIS SUPPORTS TRUMP PROVES HE SUPPORTS OUTRAGEOUS, DISGUSTING & LAWLESS CONDUCT

Fourteen Characteristics of Fascism – Article by Dr. Lawrence Britt

1. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights – Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of “need.” The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

2. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause – The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

3. Supremacy of the Military – Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

4. Rampant Sexism – The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

5. Controlled Mass Media – Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

6. Obsession with National Security – Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

7. Religion and Government are Intertwined – Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government’s policies or actions.

8. Corporate Power is Protected – The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

9. Labor Power is Suppressed – Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

10. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts – Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

11. Obsession with Crime and Punishment – Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

12. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption – Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

13. Manipulate & Control elections – Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate & control elections.

14. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism – Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
